The North East

The North East and Yorkshire Racing corridor is one of the densest in Britain, anchored by the world-famous York Racecourse, which hosts the Ebor Festival each August, featuring the prestigious Juddmonte International.

Newcastle Racecourse remains a pivotal hub with its Northumberland Plate Festival in June, while Hexham and Sedgefield offer scenic, undulating tracks dedicated to National Hunt jumping.

Yorkshire’s “Garden Racecourse,” Ripon, is celebrated for the Great St Wilfrid Stakes in August, and Pontefract is known for its stamina-testing circuit and high-class Sunday meetings.

Thirsk and Catterick provide a quintessential country racing atmosphere; Catterick is one of the busiest tracks in the North, hosting racing nearly year-round across both Flat and Jump codes, while Redcar rounds out the region with its historic straight mile and competitive Two-Year-Old Trophy in October.
