About

Kieran Shoemark comes from a racing background, with his older brother Conor, father, grandfather and great-uncles all riding as National Hunt jockeys. He completed a four-week course at the British Racing School before joining Andrew Balding’s Kingsclere yard at the age of 16.

Shoemark spent three years with Balding, a period that brought his first Royal Ascot winner and saw him narrowly miss out on the Champion Apprentice title, finishing on 52 winners, just one behind David Egan.

In 2024, Shoemark was appointed number one rider for John and Thady Gosden and rode his first Group 1 winner for the yard in the Prix de l’Opéra in France. Although that partnership ended in May 2025, he continued to enjoy success, recording two Royal Ascot winners later that year.
