Jim Crowley, William Buick and Hollie Doyle are the three nominees for October Jockey of the Month.
The three top-class jockeys recorded victories on Britain’s richest raceday, QIPCO British Champions Day, to end a fantastic Flat season for the trio. Last month, each jockey also recorded big race victories and significant career milestones.
Voting has closed and here are the results.
The biggest win of Hollie Doyle‘s month was undoubtedly defending her QIPCO British Long Distance Cup crown with Trueshan. The pair again beat a stellar field of top staying talent, including three-time Gold Cup winner Stradivarius.
Doyle recorded 15 victories throughout the month which took her tally of winners for the year past 151 – her previous record number of winners in a calendar year.
Th 24-year-old ended the season in the top 5 of the Flat Jockeys’ Championship.
William Buick had a quite outstanding October as he fought Oisin Murphy for the coveted Flat Jockeys’ Championship.
Buick recorded 20 winners in the last 16 days of the season, eventually finishing runner-up to Murphy by just two winners.
The Godolphin-retained rider rode five Group race winners in the UK, including top level victories in the Sun Chariot with Saffron Beach, the Dewhurst Stakes with Native Trail and the Champions Sprint with Creative Force.
To say Jim Crowley ended his season with a bang would be an understatement. The 43-year-old rode a remarkable treble on one of the most competitive and prestigious days in the racing calendar – Champions Day.
The day at Ascot, started with a thrilling victory in the Fillies & Mares aboard Eshaada and was immediately followed up with a mightily impressive performance with the unbeaten Baaeed in The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
His final winner in the Balmoral Handicap with Aldaary saw him close out a 215/1 treble.
Outside of Champions Day, Crowley recorded two Group victories, in the Cumberland Lodge with Hukum at Ascot and the Darley Stakes with Mostahdaf at Newmarket.
The 43 year old rode a total of 14 winners throughout the month and finished in the top 10 the Flat Jockeys’ Championship.
