It is the best place to get some great ideas about things you could do when you leave school! You can find out about different types of jobs – riding horses, looking after foals, or even running a racecourse. There’s lots of information about how to learn more and develop your skills to be ready to get involved in the exciting sport of horse racing. And you can even search and apply for jobs when you are ready.
Is it just for jockeys or people who work closely with horses?
Sure, horses and jockeys are a big part but there’s a wide range of other types of job you could do. Horse racing is huge. To give you an idea, there’s around 10,000 people looking after horses every day; and more than 5,000 people can work at a major race meeting all doing different types of jobs to make sure everyone has a great day out.
What training is available?
Finding the right training for you really depends on the type of job you are looking to get. If it’s really looking after horses that excites you, then a foundation course leading onto an apprenticeship is a great way to get started when you finish school.
For other areas, chat to the team. As there are many support programmes that racing have designed to help you make that next step after leaving school, college or university.
What about finding a job?
If you have left education and are looking to get a job in the racing industry, there are live vacancies on the Careers in Racing job board.
