Hollie Doyle maintained an incredible level of consistency across July which saw her hit the mark of 50 winners in the Flat Jockeys’ Championship and become the first jockey to hit 100 winners in the Annual Flat Jockeys’ title.
The highlight of Hollie’s month was undoubtedly the spectacular treble at Glorious Goodwood which included victory in the Qatar Goodwood Cup with Trueshan. The second Group 1 win of her career.
The Goodwood Cup victory was followed up with victories on board Lord Riddiford and Sisters In The Sky completing a 122/1 treble big day treble.
Kieran Shoemark enjoyed his biggest moment of his career last Thursday when guiding Lady Bowthorpe to victory in the Group 1 Qatar Nassau Stakes. His first winner at the top level in British Flat racing.
A brilliantly timed effort by the 25 year old rider saw him produce his mount down the outside to win the race with authority.
It was both a landmark moment for Kieran and for Lady Bowthorpe’s trainer William Jarvis who recorded a Group 1 victory for the first time 27 years.
A hugely popular winner, Shoemark has rebuilt his career in recent seasons following documented troubles with substance abuse. To see him victorious on such a big stage will have given fans of the sport a huge reason to smile.
William Buick racked up the winners at a rapid pace in July; closing the gap on leading rider in the Flat Jockeys’ Championship, Oisin Murphy. William currently sits in second place.
Goodwood was a happy hunting ground for Buick, the Norwegian claimed the top jockey award with seven winners at the meeting. The 33 year-old jockey’s standout victories coming in the King George Qatar Stakes with Suesa and the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes with Wonderful Tonight.
