Hollie Doyle hit the milestone with victory at Bath Racecourse on board Good Impression today, Monday 24th August.
The 23-year-old has now reached her half-century 41 days fastest than last season. The ever-improving jockey has secured the landmark only 84 days into the campaign compared to 125 days last year.
On reaching the milestone, Doyle said: “I’m just focused on riding as many winners as I can and thankfully it has been a great start to the season. It’s a really exciting title race and hopefully I can continue my form and be in with a chance.”
Doyle made history in 2019 for the most wins achieved by a female in a calendar year finishing the year with 116 wins.
Over the past five years women in horse racing have continued to excel in one of the few sports in which men and women compete as equals.
From 2015-2019 there has been a 76% increase of winners achieved by women across Jump and Flat racing, with a 79% rise from 316 to 567 winners on the Flat during the period and a 68% rise in Jump racing, from 139 winners in 2015 to 234 winners achieved by women last year.
Speaking on women in racing, Doyle said: “We compete against men every day and we’re equals on and off the track.”
“There have been a lot more women competing in the sport professionally in recent years and I think that the wider industry has realised that, if given the opportunity, women are just as good as men and our gender should not come into the equation.”
Doyle now sits sixth in 2020 Flat Jockeys’ Championship in her quest to become the first woman to be named Champion Jockey.
She is currently five wins behind Jim Crowley (55) and nine wins behind Ben Curtis (59), a further 18 wins behind second-placed and partner Tom Marquand (68) and 34 behind leader and reigning Champion Jockey, Oisin Murphy who leads the way with 84 wins.
Amongst the half-century, Doyle has secured her first ever Group victories, most recently with Certain Lad in the Group 3 Sky Bet and Symphony Group Strensall Stakes at York Racecourse yesterday and with Extra Elusive in the Group 3 BetVictor Rose Of Lancaster Stakes at Haydock Park Racecourse last week.
Doyle also enjoyed Group 2 success aboard Dame Malliot in the Princess Of Wales’s Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse in July and her maiden Royal Ascot success with Scarlet Dragon in the Commonwealth Cup back in June, becoming only the third woman to ride a winner at the prestigious meeting.
Doyle’s most successful trainer partnership so far this season is with Archie Watson, with the pair enjoying 15 victories together, and her top performing track of the season so far is Lingfield Park where she has secured 19 wins.
