Age: 22

Career highlight: Winning two Group 1 races in Australia on Addeybb in March/April 2020.

Interesting fact: If Tom were not a jockey, he would have pursued a career as a Chef.

Career summary: At just 22-years-old, Tom is one of the youngest and brightest talents of the weighing room.

He launched his riding career in November 2014 and soon found his stride, successfully landing the Champion Apprentice Jockey title as soon as October 2015 at the age of just 18. That year, he made the shortlist for the BBC’s Young Sports Personality of the Year award, finishing in the final three.

Last year was Tom’s most successful year yet. Not only did he set a new personal record of 136 wins for the season, putting him 4th in the Champion Jockey standings, but he rode a winner for Her Majesty The Queen and enjoyed a five-day period in June when he rode winners at 50-1 and 100-1 at Brighton.

Tom’s career hit new heights this spring, when he partnered British-trained horses– Addeybb and Young Rascal – in two races each in Australia, where he has spent some of the last two winters.

On their first appearances down under, both horses won their respective Group races, catapulting Tom into the headlines with a first Group 1 success. Addeybb also won his second race, which was also at the highest level.
