What to wear

23rd March 2020

Unsure what to wear to the races? Here's a short guide for Jump racing in the winter months and Flat racing in the summer months.

Jump Racing

Jump racing is all about keeping warm and dry during the winter months but you can decide what’s suits you best! Premier enclosures and hospitality suites may require a dress code though so please do check before arriving. However, for 99% of jump fixtures you can wear whatever you like! Just make sure to double check with individual racecourse websites.

Flat Racing

The summer months provide the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the sun in your casual summer clothes! Whilst during the season you are more likely to see the ladies in hats, fascinators and dresses, a strict dress code is only enforced at a handful of fixtures such as Royal Ascot, The Derby and Glorious Goodwood.

Once again, certain areas for certain fixtures may require you to follow a dress code, however for those in the grandstand enclosures it is far more relaxed and you can dress casually. Please do check with individual racecourse websites, though.
