Tristan Durrell’s racing journey began in the Pytchley Pony Club, reaching the National Finals at Garthorpe in 2016, before transitioning to thoroughbreds in when moving to Dan Skelton’s Warwickshire based yard at 15. Durrell crossed paths with Nick Pearce, who gave him a ride on a couple of ex-Skelton pointers he was training at the time. 

Durrell has since become conditional jockey for Dan Skelton, achieving notable wins in professional races. Highlights include victories on Panic Attack in the Coral Gold Cup Handicap Chase at Newbury in 2025 and a career-best double at Kempton Park, also in 2025, winning on Flegmatik and Jay Jay Reilly in the Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle. 

April 2026 was fruitful for Durrell, as he capped a superb season when partnering Mirabad to a surprise victory in the Hallgarten & Novum Wines Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree’s Grand National meeting. It was a first Grade 1 victory for Tristan and confirmation that he is at home on jump racing’s biggest stage. Two weeks later, he picked up his Champion Conditional trophy at Sandown’s Bet365 Jump Finale.
