Sean Bowen is one of the leading figures in British jump racing and a standout Welsh jockey whose rise has been marked by determination, skill and consistent success. Raised in Little Newcastle, Pembrokeshire, he comes from a well known racing family. His father Peter trained for many years, his brother Mickey now holds the training licence and his brother James is also a successful jockey.
Bowen first came to prominence as Champion Conditional Jockey, earning two Lester Awards for his performances. Since then, he has developed into a major force in the sport, riding important winners at the highest level and becoming known for tactical awareness, strength in a finish and a competitive edge that has drawn comparisons to AP McCoy.
After twice finishing runner up in the championship, he returned with renewed focus and went on to claim the Champion Jockey title with a season defined by consistency and determination. He also reached the rare milestone of riding a winner at every British jump’s racecourse. With strong momentum behind him, he continues to pursue ambitious goals, including his aim to ride more than two hundred winners in a single season.
