Freddie Gingell is the current Champion Apprentice and one of the most exciting young talents in British jump racing. He first announced himself as a future star when he won a Grade One race at only seventeen, riding for his uncle Joe Tizzard. For the Gingell and Tizzard family, it was more than a breakthrough moment. It marked the beginning of a new chapter in a long and successful racing dynasty.
Born into a household shaped by the achievements of his grandfather Colin Tizzard, a Cheltenham Gold Cup winning trainer, Freddie grew up with both opportunity and expectation. His journey has also been shaped by personal resilience. He lost his mother to cancer at a young age, a loss that continues to inspire his determination to succeed and to honour her memory.
As he builds on early success, Freddie has begun to carve out a reputation for maturity, balance and confidence in the saddle. His victory in the Paddy Power Gold Cup on Il Ridoto in 2024 and his rise to Champion Conditional Jockey have marked him as a rider with exceptional potential.
