The Flat season heads into the autumn following a glorious summer and there’s still plenty of excellent Premier Racing fixtures to enjoy in September.

Top-class sprinting, the world’s oldest Classic and Scotland’s premier Flat meeting feature among the month’s racing highlights.

Here’s a look at all the Premier Racing fixtures in September.

Haydock Park

Sprint Cup Celebration, Saturday 6 September

The month’s Premier Racing kicks off in style with the Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup. Some of the fastest horses around will battle it out for the prestigious prize.

The historic Old Borough Cup is among the supporting races.

Kempton Park

Wild West Raceday, Saturday 6 September

Get set for a Unibet September Stakes shootout on the track and a raucous hoedown off it at Kempton’s Wild West Raceday.

The Group 3 contest – won by top-class performers Enable, Mostahdaf and Bay Bridge in recent years – tops the bill. It’s supported by the Group 3 Unibet Sirenia Stakes and the finals of the London Mile and London Sprint series.

The western theme includes a rodeo bull and live country music after racing.

York

Sky Bet Sunday Series, Sunday 7 September

There’s a cracking card of competitive racing for the YorkMix Family Raceday.

The fixture is part of the hugely-successful Sky Bet Sunday Series and there is sure to be plenty of excitement on and off the track.

Doncaster

Betfred St Leger Festival, Thursday 11 September - Sunday 14 September

The four-day St Leger Festival dominates the month’s Premier Racing fixtures with the focus falling on Doncaster and the original Classic contest.

The meeting kicks off with a brace of Group 2 races – the Betfred May Hill Stakes and the Betfred Park Hill Stakes – on the Yorkshire track’s Ladies Day.

The stayers feature on Friday in the Group 2 Betfred Doncaster Cup, with the fastest two-year-olds battling it out for the Group 2 Carlsberg Flying Childers Stakes.

Derby hero Lambourn and Goodwood Cup winner Scandinavia are among the likely runners in the Betfred St Leger on Saturday. The final Classic of the season is shaping to be a vintage edition of the historic contest.

There will be live music after racing on each of the first three days. The meeting ends with the popular Betfred Sunday Funday when the Leger Legends race for ex-professional jockeys will feature among the action on the track. There will a whole host of family-friendly entertainment to add to the day’s enjoyment.

Chester

The Virgin Bet Autumn Festival Saturday, Saturday 13 September

The two-day Virgin Bet Autumn Festival comes to its conclusion with a Premier Racing card, featuring the John Smith’s Jump Jockeys Challenge.

Some of the top National Hunt riders will get the chance to experience riding around the tight turns of the world’s oldest racecourse.

The Listed Virgin Bet Stand Cup adds more class to proceedings.

Ayr

Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Saturday, Saturday 20 September

The three-day Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup Festival climaxes with one of the most prestigious sprint handicaps of the season.

The race is so popular that horses that miss the cut for the big race can run in the consolation races, the Silver and Bronze Cups.

The Ladbrokes Firth Of Clyde Stakes – Scotland’s only Group race – heads the supporting races and radio DJ George Bowie will be entertaining the crowds after racing.

Newbury

Dubai Duty Free International Day with James Bay, Saturday 20 September

Some of the potential stars of the future will battle it out in the Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes on Newbury’s Premier Racing card.

The entertainment is not restricted just to the track as award-winning singer-songwriter James Bay will perform after racing.

Southwell

Dog Friendly Raceday, Sunday 21 September

Horses won’t be the only four-legged friends as Southwell hosts its Dog Friendly Raceday.

To compliment the eight-race card at the all-weather course, there will be loads of dog-themed activities from ‘best turned out’ competitions to agility games.

Visitors are encouraged to bring along their pooches to enjoy the fun.

Newmarket

Cambridgeshire Meeting ft Oktoberfest, Friday 26 & Saturday 27 September

The first leg of the ‘Autumn Double’ tops the bill at the Cambridgeshire Meeting.

The fiercely-contested handicap sits alongside a stellar line-up of Group races spread across two days of Premier Racing fixtures.

The Boylesports Rockfel Stakes and the Boylesports Joel Stakes – both Group 2 contests – are the feature races on Friday. They serve as a tasty appetiser to Saturday’s top-class action.

The Bet365 Cambridgeshire features on a superb card, with the Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes and the Group 1 Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes sure to be packed with the cream of Europe’s two-year-olds.

The superb two-day meeting is certain to go with a swing, as the whole meeting will have an Oktoberfest flavour to it, complete with oompah sounds.
