Nominees

William Buick

The Godolphin man has had yet another fantastic season. Buick surpassed his personal-best tally in the Flat Jockeys’ Championship and is in the fight to become Champion Flat Jockey.

Flat Jockeys' Championship

The Norwegian had a prolific month with a total of 20 winners, including a treble on Cazoo St Leger Day at Doncaster, the last of which being the final Classic of the season with Hurricane Lane.

It was a thoroughly impressive performance as Hurricane Lane and William Buick surged clear to win the St Leger comfortably.

Alongside Classic glory, Buick recorded three British Group race victories; the Group 2 Cazoo Park Stakes at Doncaster with Noble Truth, the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup Stakes at Newbury with Solid Stone and the Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket with Modern Games.

Andrea Atzeni

Atzeni recorded the biggest win of his season in September with Emaraaty Ana in the Group 1 Betfair Sprint Cup. A brilliantly timed run and strong finish claimed the prestigious race.

The Sprint Cup victory was the final leg of an incredible 407/1 treble at Haydock. Another fixture Atzeni excelled at was the Newmarket Cambridgeshire meeting where he recorded four winners, taking his total to 12 winners in September.

Hayley Turner

The trailblazing jockey has achieved many great feats including becoming the first woman rider to win a Group 1 race outright and record 100 winners in a calendar year.

Turner hit the landmark of 900 career British winners on 24th September, the 900th winner coming at York on Master Milliner in the William Hill Pick Your Places Handicap.

On top of the big landmark win, Turner became the leading rider of the Silk Series (a racing series of woman riders contested at ARC racecourses). It’s the first time Turner has won the league since its inception in 2017.
