In the wake of lockdown life has changed immeasurably across the UK in all walks of life. The horse racing industry is no exception and huge changes and challenges have affected all corners of the industry.

Racing Life In Lockdown is a series which puts a spotlight on the many facets of the racing industry during this time, and how individuals and businesses are coping with the 'new normal'.

Amy Murphy: The Trainer

Newmarket-based Amy showed us around her yard and the changes they've made since the lockdown period, ensuring the horses are still cared for, and staff can work safely.

Tracy Vigors: Stud Manager

Tracy runs Hillwood Stud in Wiltshire with her husband Charlie, where not only have they had a busy foaling season, but the added responsible of schooling their two young children in the process!

Rosie Margarson: Stable Staff

Looking after racehorse and social media star 'Bean' (@LifeOfBean Twitter) just got a little more complicated for Rosie, with new social distancing measures and other precautions going on across the yard. It won't stop the love and care given to Bean, and all racehorses across the country by devoted stable staff, despite the crisis.

Sophie Able: General Manager, Newmarket Racecourse

Like all racecourses, Newmarket eagerly awaits the return of racing. However, there has been plenty for the racecourse team to work on during this period, from maintaining the course to helping the local community with free meals. As racecourse General Manger, Sophie has been instrumental in co-ordinating their team in a tricky period.

Oli Bell: ITV Racing Presenter

With no Opening Show or ITV Racing to present, broadcaster Oli has, like many of us, had to find new pastimes during lockdown. Oli gave his time to help with Equestrian Relief, finding new talents as a baker and artist in the process.

Tom Marquand: Jockey

Tom was out in Australia landing Group 1 honours while when lockdown began. It's fair to say he came back to a very different UK to the one he left! He's taken the time to do some home improvements and even 'invested' in a new barbeque!

Francesca Altoft: Photographer

Francesca spends much of her racing life as a racecourse photographer so with no racing, she's certainly felt lockdown. She's kept her photographer's eye in by picturing the local wildlife at her home near Newbury.
