The Betfred St Leger completes the Classics for the season with the cream of the staying three-year-olds taking each other on at Doncaster for one of racing’s most historic prizes.
Newmarket hosts the other Premier Racing meeting with its Cambridgeshire meeting staging one of the most competitive handicaps of the season as well as two of the top Group 1 races for two-year-olds.

Doncaster
Betfred St Leger Day, Saturday 12 September
The opening Premier Racing fixture of September takes on added significance as the Betfred St Leger celebrates its 250th anniversary.
The top staying three-year-olds will battle it out over 1m6f115y in the final Classic of the season for one of Flat racing’s most historic prizes.
First run in 1776, the world’s oldest Classic is often won by a future staying star.
Last year, Scandanavia gave Aidan O’Brien his ninth win in the Doncaster Classic. He has gone on to win the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot and the Goodwood Cup to cement his position as staying champion.
The feature Group 1 prize will be supported by the Group 2 Betfred Champagne Stakes for two-year-olds and the Group 2 Betfred Park Stakes.
Newmarket
Cambridgeshire Saturday, Saturday 26 September
Flat racing’s future stars will take centre stage on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile course.
The cream of the sprinting two-year-olds will get their chance to shine in two Group 1 races.
The colts go in the Tattersalls Middle Park Stakes, while the fillies contest the Cheveley Park Stakes.
The Group 2 Tattersalls Online Royal Lodge Stakes gives a further opportunity for some of the best two-year-olds to push their Classic claims. It was won last year by this season’s 2000 Guineas, St James’s Palace and Sussex Stakes winner Bow Echo.
Those Groups races are complimented by one of the most competitive handicaps of the season.
The Cambridgeshire is a stunning spectacle with runners spread across the Rowley Mile over the 1m1f trip.
