With no background in horseracing Lilly was fortunate to be part of the North Cotswold Hunt branch of the Pony Club. She embraced a wide range of activities with her ponies, with success in a variety of disciplines including Show Jumping and Eventing.
She got her first pony at age nine and took him pony racing, winning in their first race together.
With a few wins under her belt, she then gave Point-to-Pointing racing a go. Lilly rode in her first Point-to-Point in February 2015 and scored her first win between the Flags in April 2016.
While still at school she rode out for local trainer Richard Phillips, and sometimes Nigel Twiston-Davies.
She then moved on to work and ride for Graeme McPherson, where she rode as a Conditional Jockey. Graeme set the goal for Lilly to ride five winners, she ended up riding 14 in 2020/21.
In April 2021, she then had a bad accident and was out for six months. In this time, she kept herself busy with her animals including some turkeys. During this time, she also did an online midwifery course, something that she would love to pursue a career in after racing.
On her return, Lilly managed to ride a winner on just her second ride back from injury and she soon took advantage of her next opportunity, riding for Richard Hobson in France.
She then returned to ride for trainer Charlie Longsdon, and she made it a winning one aboard Freethinker in a race at Newcastle in February 2022.
Lilly rode out her claim in November 2023, something which has been her goal for a long time.
More recently Lilly reached 100 career wins at Market Rasen in July 2025.
