Born in Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland, Danny McMenamin moved to England aged just 17 to pursue a career in the saddle, joining forces with powerful Northern based trainer, Nicky Richards.  

Alongside Nicky Richards, McMenamin also joined forces with Ann Hamilton, who has provided him with three of his five Grade 2 winners to date.  

During the 2025/26 season, McMenamin achieved a career best tally of 80 winners, including winning the William Hill Half A Mill Grand National Trial Handicap Chase.
