WEEKEND REVIEW: Paisley Park seals seventh consecutive win and goes to the Festival firm favourite

Paisley Park is fast becoming British Jump racing’s biggest star.

He faced fierce competition in Saturday’s Cleeve Hurdle with n no less than four Grade 1 winners in the field. However, he proved once again he’s the one to beat in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Festival after surging up the hill to win comfortably by over a length.

Worryingly for his rivals we may not have seen the best of him just yet. Jockey Aidan Coleman said, “He’s just brilliant; he’s gone round in second gear and he’s an absolute pleasure.”

“Usually I get to the front way too soon, but today I got to the front at the last and I thought that was perfect.”

Santini strengthens Cheltenham Gold Cup claims

It was a head-to-head battle of the highest order as Santini got the better of Bristol De Mai in an epic Cotswold Chase duel and went second favourite for the Gold Cup in March.

Nicky Henderson said, “He (Santini) is big, powerful and learning all the time. He thrives on work and we have thrown it at him. The more you can get into him, the better he becomes.

“Bristol de Mai is a rock-solid benchmark. The Gold Cup is an open race and there are a lot of protagonist but I think we are one of them.”
