Weekend Review: Cyrname ends Altior’s record winning streak

Cyrname Vs Altior Christy Chase

One of the most hotly-anticipated clashes in recent memory came to pass on Saturday and boy did it live up to the hype!

The top two chasers in training came to blows; with Cyrname and pilot Harry Cobden producing a near flawless performance to lead all the way and end Altior’s 19-race unbeaten run.

With both horses seemingly fit and well post-race, talk of a second clash is already beginning to gather pace. Another titanic tussle between the pair on Boxing Day in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park remains a very distinct possibility.

Here’s how social media reacted.

Betfair Chase

Further north the Betfair Chase gave spectators another thrilling battle just an hour later on Saturday as the Colin Tizzard-trained Lostintranslation defeated defending champion, Bristol De Mai.

A predictably gruelling encounter, jockey Robbie Power gave Lostintranslation a beautifully-judged ride as he came to claim long-time leader Bristol De Mai late in the home straight.

It looks like the two horses may well also go to the King George on Boxing Day too. Kempton’s feature is quickly assembling one of the most star-studded fields we’ve seen for some time.
