Nicola Currie to be crowned All-Weather Champion Apprentice on Good Friday
Nicola Currie will be crowned All-Weather Champion Apprentice at Bath Racecourse tomorrow after another successful winter campaign.
The 25-year-old, originally from Isle of Arran in Scotland but now based in Lambourn with trainers Richard Hughes and Jamie Osborne, will be presented with the award after securing a total of 30 wins in the All-Weather Championships – a commanding 12 more wins than second placed Phil Dennis. (The All-Weather Championships is decided on wins from Tuesday 23rd October 2018 until Friday 19th April 2019 on All-Weather tracks.)
Ahead of her crowning, Currie revealed some things that may come as a surprise to some people.
Currie will receive £4,000 for winning the All-Weather Champion Apprentice title, and is set to have three chances of adding to her winner’s tally on what is set to be a special day for the jockey, starting with Ghayadh in the Betway Handicap, and followed by rides aboard Fizzy Feet and Rossetti in the Whitsbury Manor Stud / British EBF Lansdown Stakes and Dribuild Group Handicap.
Bath is one of three fixtures taking place on Good Friday, and kicks off an action-packed Easter weekend of racing, with 20 race meetings taking place across Great Britain over the bank holiday weekend.
