Ryan Moore’s Most Memorable Moments!
Widely regarded as one of the best Flat jockeys in Britain, if not the world, there are not many milestones that Ryan Moore hasn’t surpassed. Another one fell on Wednesday night at Kempton when he notched up his 2,000th British Flat winner.
His actual first racing winner came over obstacles aboard Mersey Beat for his father and trainer Gary Moore on May 15, 2000 at the age of 16.
However, the first of his flat triumphs came at Newmarket in the same year with No Extras, in an amateur riders’ event. This began a journey which saw him go from amateur rider to all-conquering superstar of the sport, with no doubt plenty more winners to come.
We’ve taken a look at his 5 best moments in an illustrious career:
Royal Ascot Gold Cup winner for HM The Queen!
Never has the British monarch shown publicly so much joy as when Moore rode Estimate to 2013 Gold Cup glory in the famous Royal silks.

Winning the 2010 Investec Oaks AND Investec Derby!
Some jockeys can only dream of riding one Classic winner in their careers. In 2010, Moore won two in 24 hours, with Snow Fairy in the Oaks and then the next day Workforce in the Derby.
Snow Fairy, his first ever Classic winner, was a particularly stellar ride. Moore guided Snow Fairy from the back, avoiding a host of traffic to get up on the inside in the final furlong. A brilliant ride you can watch here
First Champion Jockey Title
Ryan’s first taste of Champion Jockey success came in 2006 where he won 180 winners that season to take the crown. He’s won the title a total of three times in a golden period in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

Success with Ballydoyle
In 2015 it was announced that Ryan would take over from Joseph O’Brien who had long suffered with making the weight needed for a flat jockey- in riding the powerful Ballydoyle operation’s main runners. A move which has brought him much success both in Britain and over in Ireland.
Here’s his triumph on the brilliant Gleneagles in the QIPCO 2000 Guineas.
Record-breaking 9 Royal Ascot winners in 2015
Ryan Moore is always at his best when Royal Ascot comes around in June each year. However, he was in particularly strong form in 2015 riding a record nine winners over the five days.
