AINTREE REACTION: The magnificent Min produces a ‘career-best performance’

The Aintree crowd were treated to an extraordinary performance by Min in the Grade One JLT Chase (formerly Melling Chase). Trainer Willie Mullins called it a “career-best performance”.

After leading throughout the race, Min stormed clear of his rivals in the home straight to win by a massive 20 lengths. Min gained revenge on Politologue, who beat Min by a neck in the race 12 months ago.

It was Min’s fourth Grade One victory and it could have been a lot more if he wasn’t born in the same generation as one of the best two mile chasers of all-time in Altior.

Ruby Walsh commented on Min’s electric performance “he jumped like a buck, he was magic. He’s a top horse, without Altior he would have won a supreme and he would have won a Champion Chase!”

Earlier in the day, Lostintranslation travelled and jumped beautifully to win the Mildmay Novices Chase in impressive fashion. The seven-year-old gave Robbie Power his second Grade One win of the week at Aintree.

However, the day belonged to the magnificent Min, and there was plenty of praise for the Willie Mullins-trained champion.
