Cheltenham Reaction: A Champion Wednesday to look back on
Ladies Day at Cheltenham saw glamorous racegoers pull out all the stops to make a big impression, but as usual it was the action on the track which caused the biggest splash.
The green and gold colours of Irish supremo JP McManus visited the coveted winners’ enclosure on a remarkable 4 different occasions with Champ, Dame de Compeigne, Easysland and Aramax.
The most astonishing finish of the day saw the aptly named Champ come from the clouds to win the RSA Chase. Named after 20-time Champion jockey Sir AP McCoy, the eight-year-old appeared to be beaten before pulling it out of the fire in the last 150 yards, mugging long-time leaders Allaho and Minella Indo in the lead up to the line.

The day also saw the return of the living legend Tiger Roll to a UK racecourse for the first time since his epic second win at Aintree. However, despite running his heart out yet again, he couldn’t quite claw back his much younger French rival Easysland and he’ll now head to Aintree with a little less stardust.
Here’s how the world of Twitter reacted as events unfolded:
