FLASHBACK: Sir AP McCoy wins at the St Leger Festival

Jumps racing legend and 20-time Champion jockey Sir AP McCoy found himself in unusual territory on the Flat in the 2015 St Leger Legends race. However, it didn’t phase him and despite brief period of retirement McCoy showed his genius once again and added another winner to his remarkable CV.

AP had officially retired earlier in the year having had wins at Cheltenham and Aintree prior to the end of the Jumps season. Having failed to win his last Jumps race aboard Box Office at Sandown back in April, the devilishly competitive AP managed to tie up that loose end with victory on Gannicus at Town Moore.

The crowd favourite made the punters very happy and in the process he helped to raise £120,000 for the Injured Jockeys Fund.

The headline jockey for this year’s race is veteran George Duffield, who will be going for victory at the grand old age of 70! Other familiar faces include ITV and At The Races broadcaster Luke Harvey who is sure to get some stick from his co-stars if he doesn’t win!

The race will start at 3:50pm on Wednesday 13th September live on At The Races.
